Now Showing: Dictionary Daze – Peter Tunney’s Obsession With Words
Mar 22nd, 2011 | By Lulu del Rosario | Category: EventsUPDATE: This exhibit is going to run until April 18, 2011.
Apparently, there is an artistic side to words with friends ~ and it’s Now showing at Kana Manglapus’ Gallery in Venice, CA. And nope, it’s NOT the online game. I’m talking about this unique and entertaining exhibit that kicked off yesterday. In living color, in real life.
Dictionary Daze is a presentation of Peter Tunney’s obsession with words and what he describes as “one of the most incredible books of all time.” Peter has spent serious time with dictionaries, looking up words, tearing up pages, gluing them in his book, wallpapering small rooms, and covering his precious definitions to make paintings. Debuting his newest work and his first experience making silkscreens by his own hand, Peter shows us the lexicon from his unique perspective.
Here are some of his works of art on exhibit:

“Courage” 2011 Peter Tunney Acrylic Paint and Collage of Deconstructed Vintage Dictionary Pages on Canvas. 60? x 72?

"Grattitude" 2011 Peter Tunney Acrylic Paint and Collage of Deconstructed Vintage Dictionary Pages on Canvas.
And some of the wonderful people who came out on opening day:
If you’re in or around the area, do give them a call and drop by and be entertained, amazed and blown away! It’s a wonderful thing!
