River Terrace Inn, A Boutique Hotel with California Charm in the Heart of Wine CountryMay 16th, 2011 | By Lulu del Rosario | Category: Hotels, Relax and Rewind
Like a diamond graded on 4 Cs ~ carat, color, cut and clarity ~ we recently had the privilege to discover and review a sweet gem of a hotel in the heart of downtown Napa. The River Terrace Inn rated very well on my score sheet on 3 Cs ~ comfort, coziness and cleanliness. As soon as we walked into the expansive lobby, we were welcomed by the attentive front office staff of this hotel, now part of the Noble House Hotels and Resorts. As most of my family knows, I am very picky OCD when it comes to staying in hotels, but I knew right away that I could put my bags down as soon as we checked in.
Last year, I was part of a press group that was invited to tour the new development in downtown Napa. I was booked at a different hotel but I had met and befriended some who were booked at the River Terrace Inn. I had fallen in love with the town and all it had to offer and the fact that it was a mere 57 minutes from my home was (and is) a huge plus. I wanted to discover as much of it as I could and share it with as many everyones that I possibly would come in contact with. My friend and blog partner, Kaye, was with me for part of this visit. We really had no agenda this time around other than to relax after a few hectic weeks. And that, we did. Relax.
Except we did have a fun and surprise agenda agenda waiting for us.“Rejuvenate in luxury boutique accommodations on Napa’s pristine riverfront. A refreshing blend of modern elegance and California charm, our tranquil rooms and suites feature warm woods accented by rich fabrics and rugs. Immerse yourself in a Napa Valley sanctuary with private balconies where cool breezes and radiant amber vineyards enchant your spirit. Indulge in soothing spa treatments, enjoy a cocktail from the mini-bar and rest peacefully on Napa Dream beds.”
We settled into our room after our short drive (and the requisite pit stop at Bouchon Bakery). After we checked in, we were advised that we would be picked up for a tour of the Monticello Winery! We had a few minutes to rest before we were to meet up with management of the next door Cuvee Restaurant, also owned by Noble House Hotels and Resorts. Our guide for our afternoon delightful vineyard and private cellar tour would be Morgan Craft, General Manager of Cuvee Restaurant. At this point in the afternoon prior to us going anywhere, we had ZERO idea of how amazingly fun this entire weekend would be.
I went around the property to photograph and see for myself what the hotel had to offer. On the first floor, the exercise room is situated at the end of the hall and leads out to the pool. There were a few people relaxing by the pool, which I did peruse the day after.
Every morning, complimentary breakfast is served and they had a lot of food to offer! We chose to sit outside by the open fire pit to enjoy the gorgeous weather we were blessed with this particular weekend. Anyone hungry? You call fill er up here!
This is most definitely a place where you can go for a relaxing weekend. A stroll around the river and the fresh air will rejuvenate anyone’s spirits after a hectic workweek. The hotel is on Soscol Avenue, walking distance to the Oxbow Market and the newly developed Riverfront area. In fact, if you enjoy a stroll, I would recommend you just park you car and walk to downtown First Street (and the vicinity) and fall in love with the town, just like I did. The Napa Valley Wine Train depot is also within walking distance! Try that for an experience of a lifetime!
While you’re here, make tummy room for the AMAZING food at Cuvee Restaurant. I have to tell you, Chef Jordan Mackey is awesome, talented and a wonderful chat !! You must try his sweet petal bread for dessert! (Check out our coverage on Cuvee Restaurant).
The charming River Inn Terrace ~ close enough to get away from it all. We will definitely be back!
