Welcome to the Hotel Healdsburg, A Different Concept for the Wine Country
Jul 11th, 2011 | By Lulu del Rosario | Category: Hotels, Relax and RewindI fell in love with the town of Healdsburg about a year ago when I visited with my sister. At the time, she was there on a business trip and I tagged along and enjoyed discovering the rather hip (sometimes hippie) and trendy town with music at the plaza on Summer Tuesdays. I loved walking with her and by myself, visiting some of the nearby wineries and flower gardens, entering the quaint little shops and bookstores.
We stayed at the newly opened H2 Hotel, but I’ve been yearning to re-visit ever since then. Last week, my sister and I returned and this time around, we called H2′s sister property, the Hotel Healdsburg home for a night.
This property offers a different concept for the wine country visitors. The combination of it’s modern design lines with classic features gives it a country inn feel. It’s a comfortable and cozy boutique hotel right across the plaza where residents and visitors gather to listen to jazz or rock and roll ~ and dance to their hearts’ desires.
You’ve got to love the free spirits in their tie dyed apparel with their children and grandchildren, their lawn chairs and their cheese and wine on a low table or picnic blanket. We did bring our chairs to sit back and listen to Tuesday’s band. The music was quite relaxing and compelled us to unwind from the stresses of daily life. And that we did. Right here.
Our spacious room had a beautiful garden view and very modern furnishings. The plush bed was firm, luxurious and inviting. The television wasn’t as large as other properties we had visited but we pulled the two recliners close by to watch a movie at night and even played a game of Scrabble. Our game ended at around 1:30am, but sleep was but a handful of sheep away.
The dark pecan floors gave it that rustic country ambiance which I loved as I’ve always been preferential to that versus carpet. It just feels good on my feet.
The bath amenities were equally divine and catered to our sense of smell ~ Meyer Lemon and Sage Shampoo (and Bath Gel) , Lavender Jasmine and Blood Orange Conditioner and Lavender, Rosemary and Orange Blossom Lotion. How could I not look forward to getting ready for bed!
As it was a warm day when we went, I spent some time at the pool and chatted with a family who was there to celebrate their child’s first birthday. It wasn’t difficult at all to start a conversation as everyone was relaxed and friendly.
Right next to the pool was The Spa which we perused the next day. My sister enjoyed a deep tissue massage which removed all the tired from her body and I was pampered with a facial which I’m still reaping the benefits of as of this writing.

Gourmet breakfast is complimentary at the hotel. It’s quite ideal, too, for corporate meetings ~ from small executive pow wows to larger group incentive meets. The Hotel Healdsburg is home to Chef Charlie Palmer’s Dry Creek Kitchen which serves up a truly innovative and widely renowned cuisine.
There’s lots to do in this town. There are around 60 wineries within a ten minute drive. Bikes are available for those who seek a fun ride around the area with vineyards for a backdrop. Make sure you bring music to soothe your soul!
It’s pure relaxation in this gorgeous property an hour north of San Francisco. It’s marvelous here and the people are friendly. It will always be special to me. A town with great food, wine and entertainment at my fingertips ~ or literally just outside the door.
Please enjoy more photographs from our visit!
