My Over The Top Facial Experience from The Spa at the Hotel Healdsburg

Ahhh, cue the spa music on Spotify so I can finally write a much deserved stand-alone feature story on my recent experience at The Spa and the Hotel Healdsburg.  It was early July when my sister and I visited this property and enjoyed a back-to-Healdsburg overnighter.   The facial I got was, indeed, one of the very best I’ve received in a long time and at the end of my treatment, I immediately deemed it deserving it’s own spot in Clout & About‘s repertoire of great  AWESOME finds.

My therapist was Kelsey and she was divine.  Her very  relaxing strokes almost sent me to a sub-existential plane,  but I wanted to enjoy the pampering so I savored each and every rounding massage motion care of her ultra smooth hands.  It was easy to relax at The Spa.  The ambiance was calm and serene and as expected, music set the tone.   I only waited for a couple of minutes before Kelsey came to greet me.

The Spa at the HotelHealdsburg is one of the top 50 hotel spas featured in the July 2011 Conde Nast magazine.  And to tell you the truth, they deserve to be there especially for the facial I received ~ which to this day, a month later, I’m still feeling and reaping the benefits from.  The Eminence Organic Skin Care of Hungary line of products is used at this facility.  Here is what was used on my skin:

Facial skin type:  Sensitive, sometimes dry in the T-zone

We begun with a Blueberry Soy Exfoliating Cleanser for Normal to Dry Skin mixed with a Coconut Milk cleanser.  This was when I tuned off the universe.  Next was a cocktail combo of Stone Crop Hydrating Mist sprayed on my face and a Hawthorn Tonique and Wild Plum Tonique was combined and gently massaged while I was ooohing and ahhh-ing, and a couple giggles here and there.  I was savoring it all and wishing it would go on forever.   The next step I absolutely LOVED.  A combination Strawberry Rhubarb Dermafoliant followed by an Yam and Pumpkin Enzyme Peel.   I mean, really!  Eat your heart out … or your enzyme peel! They sounded edible and delicious and I knew my skin was jumping for joy, merriment and sucking in all that moisture.

Take me away!

Kelsey's Arsenal of Magic Potions

The masque used was based on what my skin needed and was mixed at the time of treatment:  A Clear Skin Probiotic Masque, Primrose and Melon Balancing Masque and a Calm Skin Arnica Masque ~ everything was what the doctor ordered.   I mean Kelsey.  My uber capable new BFF by this time.

I didn’t need a whole lot of extractions; maybe three at the most and they felt good!  Go away, three blackheads sitting on my nose!

After the extraction, a Grape Antioxidant serum followed by a Strawberry Rhubarb  Hyaluronic Serum was applied.  Aside from the antioxidant qualities, these helped to replenish and restore my skin to that of a baby’s bottom.  Okay, maybe not THAT young.  But it was feeling mighty smooth and happy!

To almost finish off the treatment, I enjoyed an Aloe Mint Hydrating Cream Gel (minty and tingling!!!) and an Echinacea Recovery Cream, both moisturizers.  The Echinacea Recovery Cream is for Sensitive skin prone to Rosacea (that be me!)  A Tomato Sun Cream with SPF 16 (not 15!!) was applied as I had intended to sit by the pool next to the spa following treatment.

I want all of these!

Finally, an Herbal Eye Contour Cream (anti wrinkle) and Citrus Lip Balm (hydrating and plumping) was the cherry on top of whipped cream.   I was in 11th Heaven by this time.  I knew everything applied on me was calming and I could feel it.

I didn’t get to the pool after my treatment.  I wanted to savor the new found non-wrinkle, moisturized and revived face I suddenly owned again.  I retreated to the little garden outside the spa to relax for a little bit.

It’s been almost a month now.  I have not had any breakouts since.  (note: my family will attest to my overly sensitive, prone to rash / temperamental skin).  I’m holding my breath, but taking the step by step lessons I learned from Kelsey to heart.  She explained the benefits of the products and how I can use other products that did not cost very much.

You see, there is a reason this place is one of the best.  It’s Simply Amazing.  And good.  Very good, in fact.   And located in a beautiful hotel across a gorgeous plaza.

It’s absolutely Healdsburg.  And you should check ‘em out!

Me?  I wanna go back!
