A Dog By Any Other Name, Perhaps! But This Was BOO, The World’s Cutest Dog and He Has A Book!
Sep 29th, 2011 | By Clout and About | Category: Author Events, Books, EntertainmentI almost missed the event. I barely saw it on the side of my computer screen that Boo, a pomerarian who can easily be mistaken for a stuffed teddy bear, was going to be at a small, intimate event at the W Hotel in San Francisco. The event was sponsored by GILT City SF and Chronicle Books and quickly sold out. Other than the pup’s interview in and around New York City, the W Hotel event was the only scheduled book launch for the book BOO: The Life of the World’s Cutest Dog“.
The tickets to the event sold out within the hour on GILT City SF. All for Boo, a 5 year old pomeranian. But you really have to see him (and Buddy) to understand the sensation. They’re over the top adorbs!
The GILT City Crew set up outside the event room at the W Hotel and the event began promptly at 7. It was a well attended crowd; all by invitation only. Cocktails were served and the bar was pouring drinks.

The guest of honor arrived shortly after 7pm, the appointed time on the invite. The crowd was pleasant and friendly (hey, it’s San Francisco! we love our city!!). I chatted up with a few groups of people ~some showing me photos of their doggies. Even the Travelocity gnome was in attendance! I had a pleasant conversation before the event with April Whitney, the Chronicle Books publicist handling Boo. She gave me some insight into Boo’s life, which is pretty normal except for the very few appearances around the book events. [This was IT for the Bay Area]. She also alluded to perhaps a sequel to the book. I asked her how much grooming the two little pups needed and she said they only went to the groomers every other month! (To which I bemoaned the fact that I take my cockapoo to get groomed every three weeks!!)
It’s pretty incredible and baffling how sensational this little cutie is on Facebook. Everyone who was in attendance learned about Boo from Facebook. That’s all he has, no website. The book itself is filled with adorable photographs taken by Gretchen LeMaistre and I must tell you ~ the poses are too cute for words!

This was the scene when the pups arrived. Both Boo and his friend Buddy came at the same time.
And when he finally settled in the pillow provided by the W Hotel, it was time to chill and take photos with his fans.

All in all it was a very fun evening at the W Hotel. The event was well organized, the food and drinks delicious (but of course, it’s the W Hotel!!). It was nice to meet Boo’s human and as promised, no photographs or information will be shared as she prefers to stay out of the flash bulbs. She’s adorable, though. That I can tell you.
As for me ~ I can’t resist cuteness. I’d drive a buncha miles in the evening to fist bump with this celebrity ~ anytime!
