Eureka! At Rosewood Sand Hill’s Sense Spa’s 24K Gold ExperienceSep 19th, 2011 | By Clout and About | Category: Relax and Rewind, Spas & Wellness
“Oh the wonders and benefits of colloidal gold!” I proclaimed this over and over as I felt my soft and supple, newly scrubbed skin all afternoon and evening following my transformational experience at Sense Spa, Rosewood Sand Hill‘s calming retreat from the worldwide world. For two whole hours at Sense, I completely disconnected and found my zen and my chi. My time at the spa was at the end of an overnighter with my sister and blog partner, Anna ~ and a cousin who had come to visit from overseas. After spending a 4 hour lunch at Madera the previous day, he decided he wanted to spend a couple nights at The Rosewood as well. [note: Rosewood Sandhill and Madera will be reviewed separately].
But back to my spa experience. The one I were I was scrubbed in gold.
I was warmly welcomed into the spa by the staff at the check in counter. With a short registration form, I was offered a cold glass of pink lemonade , rose water with lavender and sparkles of colloidal gold. An oshiburi (hot towel) infused with signature ‘California Scent’ enabled me to freshen up. I was then given a short tour of the facilities to photograph before being escorted to the ladies lounge.
There are no keys to any locker, a featured I had not seen before and thought was rather neat. One simply had to enter and set a code and that was it. After I settled into my robe, I had about 15 minutes to get into the mood and zone out before my therapist gently awoke me.
The treatment I was scheduled for was called Gold Rush Renewal. Colloidal gold is known for it’s therapeutic antioxidant and restorative benefits. After a long summer, I was ready to rid my body of dead cells and looked forward to a newly awakened skin. I was not disappointed.
The sugar scrub was infused with 24K gold, raw sugar and fruit extracts and I enjoyed every long hard stroke of polish, nourish and revitalize. It was as indulgent as I’ve ever felt. It was the perfect scrub, not too course yet enough to unearth all the skin cells that had to shed. You know ~ that feeling of good underlying skin somewhere in there. Yeah, I was ready to feel shiny and new.
The shower that followed was the mother of all showers. Water water everywhere. Only one way I can describe it. Car Wash. I only wish I had a pan so that perhaps I could salvage some gold dust. But that was not to be. Instead, I went back to the table for part two, my massage.
This time with decadent golden shea body butter, infused with botanical extracts. It smelled divine; sort of citrusy. I melted, of course ~ and relaxed as I tuned in to the music playing at the spa. I could feel my renewed and freshened skin. We have reviewed several spas in the last few months, but I had always had someone else take on the massage treatment while I opted for the facials. This time, I couldn’t share this one.
I spent a good 45 minutes taking on the rest of the premises. It was definitely a sanctuary and hard to leave.

You can feel the ambiance of this special place in the presentation below which I set to relaxing music from the very second you walk in and all the way to the rest of your day. It is extraordinary here, definitely first class in every way. Luxurious, top quality products and with the facilities where you can stay as long as you need to. Outside this world, should you choose to leave, there was a wonderful pool awaiting and I delighted in exposing my new, fresh layer of skin to the good ol’ Mr. Sun.
