Kana Manglapus Gallery Presents “Love” ~ A Multi Faceted Art Exhibit and Tribute to St. Valentine’s Day
Feb 5th, 2012 | By Lulu del Rosario | Category: EventsKana Manglapus is pleased to present “Love.” A collection of all new works by Adam Secore, Brandy Eve Allen, Carly Correa, Chad Attie, Curtis Kulig, David Bortolucci, Gabrielle Revere, Kathy Rose for Roseark, Kristen Shaw, Kwaku Alston, Maximillian Chow, Pascal Shirley, Rocco Mediate, Tao Ruspoli, and Xela Mandel.
Conceived as a tribute to St. Valentine’s Day, the collection is a multifaceted homage to our most powerful emotion: LOVE.
As broad a topic as love is, the collection is broad in its reach, as each artist examines their own meaning of love through various media. From photography to paintings to drawings to poetry, the collection is full of passion whether it be romantic or heartbreaking or both at once.
In Maximillian Chow’s drawing titled “Eye of the Holder,” the peanut and the elephant show that love and longing is immeasurable and disproportionate to the physical world. Kristen Shaw’s illustrations, photos, and poetry are whimsical and endearing representations of little moments, of thoughts we all have but may never say. Thoughts that make you want to fall in love over and over again. Kathy Rose for Rose Ark developed several exclusive pieces for the exhibition from rings to bracelets rich in deep red rubies and rose cut diamonds as symbols of love. “Eden” by Chad Attie explores the conflicts of finding a pure love in our modern world. Xela Mandel, who most recently debuted at Kana Manglapus Projects for the MGU emerging photography show last December, collaborated with NYC artist Curtis Kulig best known for his signature work “Love Me.” Tao Ruspoli’s photograph shot at the Hotel Amour in Paris described by him as the “most romantic hotel in the world” gives us a glimpse of the artist’s amorous nature. “Gloss Over Stain,” photographed by Gabrielle Revere represents the complexity and juxtaposition of our emotions, when the heart overrules the mind.
