The crowd waiting for Jimmy Carter at Kepler’s Menlo Park stood in line for almost two hours and the mix couldn’t have been more diverse in culture and age. His new book White House Diary (Farrar, Straus and Giroux, $30.00, 592 pages, published September 20, 2010) opens a window on the most crucial period of his political career – his short-lived time at the White House.
